BELIZE WATER SERVICES LTD. and THE BELIZE WATER SERVICES WORKERS UNION PRESS RELEASE BWS and BWSWU signs new Collective Bargaining Agreement The Board and Management of BWS and the Executives of the BWSWU proudly announce the finalisation of our new collective bargaining agreement which was successfully renegotiated and made effective December 1, 2010. BWS’ Management and the BWS Workers Union, recognizing the importance having a satisfied work force and fair work practices, made every effort to improve on the previous agreement. The BWSWU represents over 95% of BWS’ permanent non-management employees. Negotiators on both sides worked cooperatively and tirelessly to complete the revisions to the previous agreement, which had time-expired in November 2009, but remained effective until the new agreement was finalised. This new agreement has been reviewed and endorsed by the Labour Commissioner, Mr. Ivan Williams. The Agreement was officially signed on February 21st 2011 in the presence of the Labour Commissioner. The Board and Management of BWS extend their appreciation to all those involved in the process and offer their congratulations for a job well done. As provider of the most essential service to the Belizean populace, BWS and BWSWU are pleased with our long history of working cooperatively together to continuously improve the level of service to our customers and consumers. We continue to focus on improving the delivery of service, both to our existing customers and to as much of the population of Belize as we can reasonably reach. We are proud to be the best water utility in the Caribbean, and to be recognised by our customers as the utility delivering the best continuity of service within Belize!
